Anyone know how to wipe Tetris DX's memory?

Thread in 'Discussion' started by Ezzelin, 11 Feb 2007.

  1. OK, so I recently picked up a copy of Tetris DX (the Game Boy Color version) off Ebay, but it's got someone else's high scores on it. Does anyone know of a way to clear the memory on Tetris DX? I can delete the names, but that does not clear the high scores. If someone has the manual, could they maybe take a look at it?

Couldn't you just overwrite them with higher scores [IMG]

  3. Well, yes, but whoever had the game last had scores in all of the different level starts. I usually only start at the highest level. I could just ignore them all, but I hate the way that it looks.

  4. As far as I remember you can wipe any GameBoy colour game by playing it through a black and white GameBoy.

  5. Hmmm... that didn't work. Besides, this is a Dual Mode game anyway, so it's designed to work with an original Game Boy. Real GBC games shouldn't fit into a Game Boy, so... I'm not sure what you mean. I have a Game Boy Game Genie... I wonder if there's a code out there to wipe the high scores? I bet if I corrupt the save data somehow it would wipe it as well. Anyone good at making Game Genie codes?

  6. The game will fit into an orginal Gameboy.

Playing a Colour GameBoy game through a Non-colour GameBoy should wipe all saves.

  7. it's really not that hard. i haven't played it in forever, so i booted it up and investigated. it's rather blatant.

    a. boot up the cart.

    b. scroll left or right to select a user's account.

    c. scroll down and select "entry."

    d. maybe this was supposed to be "b," i can't remember.

    e. scroll down to "delete."

    f. confirm.

    g. way to go.

    e. rtfm next time. =b

edit: to further on my current streak of smart-assiness, i provide the following nintendo.com quote for jono. "Tetris DX is backwards compatible with Game Boy Pocket, Super Game Boy, and the original Game Boy."

  8. I tried very hard, even going to the length of unscrewing and taking my original Game Boy apart, to try playing GBC-only games on it, but they still wouldn't fit. I don't know what Jono's talking about. I suppose I could have made it work by taking the actual game cartridges apart, but I didn't have the correct screwdriver for that.

i dont know, some say if you take the cart out while playing that might erase your data...

  10. Nick, you're showing how to delete profiles. The OP already explained he tried this and it kept their records in the highscore charts. The OP also stated he is missing the manual and thus cannot rtfm. [IMG]

I've got no idea about any code, but:

    1. Open up your cart.

    2. Remove the battery.

    3. Reinstall the battery.

    That'll work.

  11. oh well, i suck.

hmm... i think maybe if you start+select+a+b in the menu area or something like that. otherwise, try this.

  12. Game Boy Colour games do not fit into the original game boy, without breaking the Game Boy.

The original, chunky GB had a plastic thing that slid across, into the top right corner of the cartridge when you turned it on. B&W GB games had a notch in to accommodate for this. GBC games did not, so when you inserted a GBC game into a B&W Game Boy, it wouldn't turn on, unless you broke off the piece of plastic that would come across.

Super Game Boy for Super NES didn't have a power switch or a plastic tab. It can't run GBC games without a monochrome mode because the color models are completely different. GBC-only games on SGB say "Works only on Game Boy Color". I seem to remember reading a web page somewhere on the internets that claims that later versions of the Game Boy Pocket's power switch didn't have the plastic tab either as a cost-saving measure.

caffeine: That screwdriver is for the Game Boy Color and later consoles and Game Boy Advance Game Paks. You need the same GameBit to open GB/GBC Game Paks that you use for NES Game Paks.
