Sorry, i would not play brawl on a arcade stick. I would use the classic controller on that one. But basically the stick has a good purpose in GGXX:AC.
The Fighting Stick Wii arrived today, the stick definitely has a cheaper feel to it than my VSHG - the buttons have a little higher tension too. Overall it's pretty nice though, definitely not as bad as I feared when I first saw the pictures of the internals.. but clearly not as nice as the more expensive sticks either.
lee_n: and it works on PC via USB ? could you maybe test it if it works with lockjaw or heboris or mame?
Well, I don't have one of them USB bluetooth dongles.. but considering it mounts itself as a classic controller it should work. But it's worth noting that this stick is of a cheaper quality and it can't even be switched to 4-way which makes it kinda bad for Tetris. It's ok as an arcade stick for Virtual Console though, which is the reason I bought it.
With the stock stick, you can't do anything with that restrictor. But if you decide to mod it and put a sanwa or a Seimitsu stick in there, then you can do those things. But the thing is, it is an ass to mod that stick.
It does not really work as a joystick device. You can sync a wiimote over bluetooth with your pc and attach things like the nuncheck, classick controller or fighting stick to it, but the wiimote listed at joysticks in your system does not send real joystick signals. You can use a program called GlovePIE and script buttons and stick directions to keypresses, then you can simply controll everyting that can be controlled by a keyboard. If anyone wants it i can post my GlovePIE script for both the wiimote and the fightstick ...
Yes I'll need it too. Have the Fighting Stick on shopping cart, waiting to click until salary comes in
If you order it on play-asia i may have some $5 discount coupons left ... I'll post the script in 8 hours or so, i'm at work now.
No rush for the script(for me that is). And don't worry about the coupon, I think my friend got that covered(we're ordering together + fast shipping) Thanks Webby.
//Wiimote Wiimote.Leds = 6 Up = Wiimote.Right Down = Wiimote.Left Left = Wiimote.Up Right = Wiimote.Down A = Wiimote.One S = Wiimote.Two One = Wiimote.B Five = Wiimote.A //Classic Controller ... Up = Wiimote.Classic.Up Down = Wiimote.Classic.Down Left = Wiimote.Classic.Left Right = Wiimote.Classic.Right A = Wiimote.Classic.Y S = Wiimote.Classic.X Five = Wiimote.Classic.Minus One = Wiimote.Classic.Plus
I've actually gotten my stick 2 days ago, got it locally at a cheaper price compared to PA. Anyways, great stick, feels nice. Buttons aren't solid, it felt as if banging on it will loosen the spring effect badly. Other than that, and most importantly, stick is not that bad! Haven't tried it on the computer yet, only tested it on Legend of the Mystical Ninja Edit: Oh btw, can GlovePIE detect two or more wiimotes?
From GlovePIE download page: "NOTE! You may not use this software on military bases, or for military purposes, or in Israel (which amounts to the same thing). Violation of the license agreement will be prosecuted. See the readme for the license agreement." Does anybody have any idea of the rationale behind this?
I have a friend who lives in Israel that would strongly object to that last part. The only thing she is likely to be violent towards is he boss, her ISP, or her mother-in-law...
@ Webby: Could you make a small tutorial for me?.. I'm kinda lost as to how the Wiimote syncs with the PC/bluetooth device. How do we get that running? As for scripts, I believe it's as easy as copying everything up there and pasting it there(on the script section)? Then proceed to run?
I myself use the windows bluetooth stack, it might be a little different if you installed other bluetooth drivers. In windows go to start - configuration screen - bluetooth devices. Click the add button. There's 1 options there "My device can be found" (it might be different, i have a dutch windows). Check that option and click next. As soon as you've clicked next, you click the orange button in your wiimote in the battery compartment. (Already remove the lid before clicking next.) It finds a new device: Nintendo RVL-CNT-01, click it and go next. Select "don't use a key" and go next. Mostly the wiimote goes out of discover mode right at or after that last step. Just click the orange button again and you'll se that it is connected. The leds keep blinking. In GlovePIE under troubleshooter select Bluetooth Fix, this seems to be nessecairy with the windows stack, paste the script and run it. If it went ok the leds start to burn instead of blinking. Somehow i can't find a way of deconnecting and reconnecting while it's still in your bluetooth settings, i delete the device in windows and add it using this prodedure the next time. They say the BlueSoleil drivers are better, but i dislike bluetooth drivers ...
I have no idea what these drivers are for, but I have a feeling that the default drivers, or whatever that came installed with should work(I'm using my GF's laptop). But if it doesn't work, meaning I must update it with the BlueSoleil drivers? Past that, it seems pretty easy to use. So THAT'S how you sync the Wiimote to PC I'll report if it works, many thanks for the help
Not all bluetooth dongles / internal devices work with the default windows stack. And you need at least windows XP for the windows drivers. But whatever drivers you install, it all comes down to put the wiimote in discovermode by pressing the orange button, let the pc search it and connect without a 'key'. Laptop's might be annoying, my laptop had 3 ways to turn the internal bluetooth device on / off. Make sure it's enabled BlueSoleil are not the only drivers, if it's a laptop you might have drivers on a cd, if it's a dongle check the manufacturers website.
The one I'm about to use is an internal wifi+bluetooth device, and I understand what you mean by having to turn on multiple options before you can even get started (I know, cause getting wifi up without using windows network locater sucks!) But I have a feeling it's gonna work out, just needed a little help, and a good help it was. Thanks. I prolly won't get to use it tonight tho'.. as my local game shop here is hosting a Halo 3 event on a 300" cinema projector Cheers!.. and we'll see if I improve in my games now
