I just got my TAP pcb last week, but it seems that I'm having some video issues. I have an old Toshiba CRT TV that only has composite hookups, no S Video or Component Video. I'm using a Pana Custom Supergun, and I'm getting a double image with TAP: The thing is that I don't have this same thing happening with my TGM pcb: And then to make things weirder, the TAP video looks great on my Samsung HDTV: As does the TGM video: For the above images, I was using the same Pana Custom supergun, the same composite video cable, and the same JAMMA harness. Any idea what could be going on with the TAP video on the Toshiba CRT? I also notice that the "LINE 1" text in the top right corner never goes away when running TAP, but it does go away when running TGM. It's like the TV doesn't register that there is video actually running to it.
If you have an old vcr or some kind of dvd recorder, try piping it through one of those to see what happens. The issue definitely seems to be in your TV.
The TV does have two Line Inputs, one in the front and one in the back, I've tried both and neither works. I also have a video capture card with a pass through on it that I've tried playing through to the same results. I did just order a JVC BM-H1300SU broadcast monitor with component, s video, and composite hookups, so I guess I'll just have to wait for that to really be able to see when I play TAP.
To add another data point, the tuppergun has similar issues with TAP when connected via composite, but looks perfectly fine via S-Video. I always assumed it was my crappy job of rewiring the composite after the cable failed, but, similarly, TGM looks fine with both.
That makes me feel a bit better that I'm not the only one with this issue. Also good that I should be okay with S-Video soon.
After what seemed like far too much hassle, including the USPS breaking a TV in transit, I finally have a TV that has S-Video (and Component Video for when I get that set up) and works without a double image with TAP.
