Challenge: [NES] Bounties!

Thread in 'Competition' started by SuPa, 17 Oct 2013.

  1. i thought i'd make it more fun for you guys by putting up some bounties. all bounties will be paid in amazon gift cards via e-mail.

bounties (added prize money by boblaze and DonAtreides):

    1. level 0 max-out - $20.00 (SuPa) + $20.00 (boblaze) + $20.00 (DonAtreides) = $60.00
    2. transition score (from level 18 to level 19) of 725,000+ - $25.00 (SuPa) + $25.00 (boblaze) + $25.00 (DonAtreides) = $75.00
    3. level 19 max-out (jonas and thor excluded) - $30.00 (SuPa) + $30.00 (boblaze) + $30.00 (DonAtreides) = $90.00
    4. sub-200 line max-out - $40.00 (SuPa) + $40.00 (boblaze) + $40.00 (DonAtreides) = $120.00
    5. back-to-back level 18 max-outs - $50.00 (SuPa) + $50.00 (boblaze) + $50.00 (DonAtreides) = $150.00
    6. back-to-back level 19 max-outs - $100.00 (SuPa) + $100.00 (boblaze) + $100.00 (DonAtreides) = $300.00

  2. this is pretty awesome...i think the only one i could even think about accomplishing is the level 0 max or 19 max....everything else is virtually impossible for me.......hopefully someone gets a bounty.!! Game on...

  3. this is bad ass. we could also have community pots for some of these that last past the end of the year and aren't claimed. for some of these i would be willing to pitch in as well. that way the longer the bounty goes unclaimed the more money the person who claims it will get! great idea supa!

  4. Nice! I have no chance of getting their first, but I'll enjoy watching the videos (assuming they're posted to YouTube or the like).

  5. Great idea Supa! (BOOOM) Tetris on!

  6. I like this idea, i prolly wont play enough to get one, but maybe ;)

  7. Ok, Skouie.

  8. I will double all the bounties (if Harry doesn't care if I do so).

  9. sounds good!

  10. hahaha. snarky. Alright, I'll play a little.

  11. I just realized - I think this is impossible based on Xerxius's calculations. You'd have to get 81,999 soft-drop points to hit 999,999 before level 20 (assuming all Tetrises). Unless there's something I'm missing?

  12. According to my calculations, the earliest possible max-out, without using drop points and starting on Level 18, is 172 lines.

    128 lines = 32 Tetrises = 729,600

    Code:
    Lines|Level|Value
    132--|19---|24,000
    136--|19---|24,000
    140--|20---|25,200
    144--|20---|25,200
    148--|20---|25,200
    152--|21---|26,400
    156--|21---|26,400
    160--|22---|27,600
    164--|22---|27,600
    168--|22---|27,600
    ===================
    ---Total = 259,2oo

    729,600+259,500=988,800

So you would need another Tetris, for a 172 line total.

A double would only yield 2400 more points for 991,200--which means if you had 8,700 drop points you would be there, but that would mean 16-20 drop points per piece which is not possible.

A triple would bring you to 996,000, which would bring drop points into the realm of possibility, at about 10 or so per piece.

EDIT: Edited because my original math was wrong. I thought a triple would be enough.

  13. Egads, that's at lot of Tetrises! 42+ if my count is right. Considering the unlikeliness that most of these will happen, the coolness factor if they did happen, and the fact that my wife spends too much money on her horse, I'd like to add to the bounties like Bob did if Harry doesn't mind.

    So:
    1. +$20.00
    2. +$25.00
    3. +$30.00
    4. +$40.00
    5. +$50.00
    6. +$100.00

  14. thanks!

  15. By my count that's almost $800 up for grabs!
