"Beatris"

  1. I know there are probably already too many modes out there as it is, but hear me out.

Simply put, this is a game mode where the pieces lock down in accordance with a beat, and to clear a level, you have to survive an entire song (for example).

For example, with background music at 128 beats per minute:

    Easy mode - 1 piece per 8 beats (3.750 s)
    Medium mode - 1 piece per 4 beats (1.875 s)
    Hard mode - 1 piece per 2 beats (0.938 s)
    Insane mode - 1 piece per 1 beat (0.469 s)

The difference between this speed and the TGM Master speed (which usually goes faster than 0.469 s, in my experience) is that this is a fixed beat rate, meaning that you can't have even an occasional slip-up.

I suppose you could also have bonuses for locking the piece down to the beat as well.

    More design considerations to come.

Sounds a lot like LockJaw's Rhythm Mode.

The idea is a bit different.

LJs mode simply enforces a minimum TPM, locking pieces by itself if you go below it.

You are free to lock pieces earlier and store up more time for later. ALso, the speed of the song starts at 60 beats per minute and increases by 10 bpm every 64 beats.

  4. Hmm, didn't know that existed. Thanks anyway.

Although Zaphod is right that my idea is just slightly different in that the beat has to be followed exactly.

Hmm, imagine playing this song in beat mode, even on Easy. XD
