I got something very strange.. We can't have a REGRET on the 900-999 section right ?? I completed a very clean game at 5:47, with a big number of tetris, especially on the last section where I only made Tetrises, I got a new ST here at 22 sec btw, and around 980 my game gets a bit fucked up and I take a REGRET !!!???? I played a nice fading roll, with 3 grades for sure and ofcourse I get "Master" only. I pretend to own a Master K at 5:47 here, I am victim of a pure stupid bug.
This is no bug, all regrets cause a -1 grade deduction, even hole regrets. I'll tell you a funnier story: Jago made a 4x4 hole during the credit roll and EVEN THERE he got a hole regret. To verify this, just try going into Shirase mode and trigger a hole regret. You'll notice that your grade is lower than you would expect; clearing for instance level 300 would give you S2 instead of S3.
now i know how to test lag ! since i have 60fps camera, i just need some light button on my arcade stick for testing
Since hole regrets do seem to affect grade after all, just like section time regrets, clones need to implement detection of them, particularly in shirase mode. They appear to be designed to penalize players for large stacking blunders, and not for platforming or minor mistakes. I may be completely wrong here, but I believe detection of them is very simple. After a piece is locked down, and after any line clear, a hole regret check is performed, provided a hole regret hasn't happened in the last 30 seconds. I believe the hole regret check is simple. Count the number of filled cells. Lets' call this A. Count the number of cells that are isolated from the edges of the playfield. Call this B. The bottom counts as an edge. if (4*B > A) then issue a hole regret, and disable checking for them for 30 seconds to let the player fix his stack. I wrote the formula this way so no division is needed, and it can handle the field after an odd number of line clears or after garbage.
That sucks anyway..I hate this system... Why not just section time limit to beat and you get a COOL, end of the story.. 0-100 55sec 100-200 55 sec 200-300 50 sec 300-400 45 sec 400-500 35 sec ..... And that's all !! ha ha..I would not be MK if things were like this..
Just found the tgm3 document again, and it seems to match up with what I deduced about hole regrets. just does the math a bit differently.
I just tested this a few times and I'm quite positive you're wrong... hole regrets don't affect your grade, at least in shirase. Twice in a row I got one in the beginning of the game and I had the normal expected grade (111 S1 and 3xx S3).
Heh. I guess I need to learn to double check my facts. I really could've sworn there was a video where somebody triggered a hole regret in Shirase and got a grade lower. I probably remembered wrong, because I can't find it.
I do remember a video where someone get a hole regret in shirase, but the player doesn't even clear the first section in it (it was the one where DIS lost his information, and gets himself the regret with his first 3 pieces) Anyway, since the game doesn't show the grade in master mode until the end, I'm not sure whether hole regrets actually subtract one, just cancel the grade boost from the section cool, disqualify the m-roll, or do anything at all. Just have to leave the determination of that to the people with the debuggers.
I just made a quick check about some datas : c_t : Sept 2008 : m9 Nov 2008 : M (+2 months) Feb 2009 : MK (+3 month) Dec 2009 : MO (+10 months) And now me : July 2009 : m9 July 2010 : M (+12 months) Jan 2011 : MK (+6 months) Kevin's insanity : Sept 2009 : MK Apri 2010 : MV (+7 months) May 2010 : MO (+1 month) Jun 2010 : MM (+1 month) Conclusion ? Hmmm I am too old for this.. And M-ROLL pays. And consistency pays. And Amnesia has nothing but determination I have enough data to make an accurate graphic with kevin and mat's data.
i need to get that invis thing going, too... it's rough business. meanwhile, i finally got above m9, feb 23rd new record, fading roll orange line M 6:13:90 silver section/gold sk
Getting closer! Each of these games had at least one tetris in the M-roll, and in fact two of the games had 3 tetrises!
Best of luck, Kevin! 3 MM's in a day probably show a decent consistency for the GM test (I think, but not sure).
Which will I do first? I started a new account to exclusively play World in since a World GM outranks a Classic GM, forever ruining the account it's obtained in. New World Master record MM time, and a decent second place Classic MM!
