OK I agree a made a generalization from my only own feeling. You too are a bad example because you are one the very rare players who can try and compare both supports easily, the other PCB owner just never play on MAME.
OK OK I'll try mame 0.99 . If i see no difference, i'll keep using mame 0.99. For me, i prefer starting my "TGM career" with the best emulator with your optimized mame.ini file. Now, time for me to achieve the S5 grade
Tu es vers Paris ? Si oui on peut se rencontrer j'essayerai de te filer un coup de main pour progresser plus vite.
I've just tried your mame version. I can't say yet if it's better than my mame's but i noticed that the screen is split in two (seems like another player will join the game). Why ? It is better ?
Just a different setting in the arcade setting screen (press F2 during the game) Your mame is certainly as good as mine or maybe slightly better, I need to test it. But if I compare with Schsmushmsmametgm, it is unplayble, the sound is noisy and the animation is crap.
I have no problem with recording in your mame version so i'm using it by now. I've watched one of your recording (inp file) included in your "package". That's impressive ! You play very high in the begining when i make tetris everytime i can. I guess it's because you prefer having as much tetraminos as you can and the speed is still low (and also for making combos too ). When i'm playing, it's always the same : when i see S4 grade, i panic and i loose......so frustrating!!! I really have to keep cool....(maybe i need Tai Chi lessons )
Since there is no hardrops on tgm1, until 20G pops out, you need to keep the stack as high as possible to save time. And it's a good training for 20g since this limitates your possibilities
Thanks for the compliment Can someone give him a link to one of the last record of 777 ? You may have a heart attack, I am noob compared to him. Unitl 300 at least..Then the saved frames become neglectable so you can stack back in the middle.
Best recorded TGM performance by 777 can be found here and this is his best TGM 20G game. I'll have to check this out myself this weekend. I use shmupmame but I use the default mame.ini file. The only thing that I change is running the game windowed with a resolution of 1024x768. I played about 15 minutes using your version. I used the 20G mode cheat and was unable to break 1:05 for the first section while I can do this after a few tries with shmupmame. Maybe this has something to do with the computer hardware.
Here are the name of the 5 cyborgs living on earth : TGM : 777 TAP MASTER : Jin Pachi TAP DEATH : 309 TI MASTER : Kan TI SHIRASE : ZAB The 5 Gods. The western successors are : TGM : jagorochi TAP MASTER : jagorochi TAP DEATH : Batfly TI MASTER : Kevin Birrel TI SHIRASE : DIGITAL I am still waiting a TGM TAS from our TAS maker DeHackEd, but it seems that creating this is boring, long and annoying.
You decide. Fact is that he's currently the only player in the world able to get times under 9 minutes. 777's current fastest game (not counting 20G mode) is 08:48:60. He has stated that his fastest time possible time is near 08:43 if I'm not mistaken. Those calculations are based on his best times in the 0-500 and 500-999 parts. Not long ago the tc member DeHackEd started an effort to get a TGM TAS.
Jago, who met these 5 guys I mentionned that they (the 4 other) told that they don't understand how 777 does to control and anticipate so well the randomizer of the tetriminos. Each of his placements during the whole run are statistically subtile. And I don't talk about these wonderfull "just frame" moves I still can't do after so many attempts myself..

I'm writing to confirm that the tweaks to mame.ini put forward by mufunyo have improved my games. I don't know what's different, it doesn't feel that different, but my scores during the past week speak for themselves...
I doubt anyone from the West will get under 9 minutes any time soon. So if I get this right 777 obtained a sub 10:30 time about 8 months after TGM was released. He may have played even less as far as we know. And then after about 20 months total he achieves what no one outside Japan has yet done. Afterwards it took another year to break 9:20 which is considered a huge barrier that separates the elite from the rest. You need to take a look at 777's blog. He plays almost every week and manages to get times around 9 minutes all the time. He travels a lot on his bike and probably has his initials and at least one sub 9 minute time on every cabinet in Tokyo. I doubt many possess that kind of dedication. Though I'm fairly optimistic that someday I'll be able to close in on 09:20 no matter how long it takes.
