Love you, man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jK-NcRmVcw A couple of us have been aching for competition, so we've decided to throw the very first player-run Blockbox Open Tournament. So you've managed to make a name for yourself on Tetris Friends Live...but can you do the same at Blockbox? Prove that you're not just a one-trick pony and point your browser at http://www.blockboxgame.com, home of the meanest, nastiest underground players of this generation. Are you from Blockbox already? Well, this is tournament is exactly what you've been waiting for- show us that the skills you've developed over the past months can take you to the top! Rules: Players have until January 31st@ 11.59 PST to register. The tournament will begin on February 1st, and will be held on the Blockbox client at http://www.blockboxgame.com. Players who have not played a single match by February 20th will be dropped from the tournament. The deadline to have your matches counted for the rankings is February 27th. Use the Blockbox "rated match" settings, First to 15 (win by 2) is the format for the open rounds. The top 8 single elimination rounds will follow a different format, which will be announced when the elimination rounds begin. Play as many opponents as possible in the open rounds in order to receive more points. Scoring: Players will be awarded 4 points for a shutout (15-0) win, 3 points for a win, and 1 point for a loss. In the event of ties in the leaderboard, the player with the better rounds won/lost ratio will receive higher seeding, so don't forget to also include the score when reporting match results. At the end of the open rounds, the top 8 players will advance to a short single elimination tournament based on their seedings. Prize: It's all for the glory, BITCHES. Top 8 players, and honorable mentions will receive player profiles (mini-interviews). ALL Top 8 matches, as well as some featured open matches will have double commentary. Volunteering: We need as much help as we can get, so if you can, please lend us a hand with these positions! Right now we need someone who can work the spreadsheets for the leaderboards. If we don't get someone who can do this, the whole tournament is off, and many players will be sad. Interviewers will be needed for player interviews. PLEASE be interesting, and have a fairly good grasp on competitive play. Commentators will be needed. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have a very good knowledge of competitive Blockbox.
