Plot: In 2003, 35 year old family man Steve Wiebe, after losing his job at Boeing, found solace in Donkey Kong. Steve stumbled upon Billy Mitchell’s record online, and set out to break it. He began perfecting his game every night after his wife and kids went to bed, and not only surpassed Billy’s record, but ended up with a thought-to-be-impossible 1,000,000 points. A tidal wave of media coverage followed, and Steve Wiebe quickly became a celebrity in his hometown of Seattle, WA. He also rediscovered his love for teaching, and regained the respect of all who once doubted him. Meanwhile, back in Hollywood, FL, Billy Mitchell hatched a plan to reclaim his fallen Donkey Kong record… In the months that followed, Steve and Billy engaged in a cross-country duel to see who could set the high score that would be included in the 2007 Guinness World Records’ book and become The King of Kong. Along the way, both men learned valuable lessons about what it means to be a father, a husband, and a true champion… discovering that you don’t always need to win to be a winner.

might be a very nice movie for you hardcore tetris gamers, although its about donkey kong.. and it is a hope for elderly people - this movie proves that you can even with 30+ achieve outstanding records http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

that reminds me of the original ass (http://video.yahoo.com/video/play?vid=166579&fr=) and maybe pure pwnage (http://www.purepwnage.com/default.htm).

edit: oh yeah, almost forgot bang the machine (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0312423/default.htm) (japan/usa streetfighter scene), and national geographic did a documentary on the starcraft scene in korea (http://www.crunchyroll.com/showmedia?id=9720).

It's really weird watching pure pwnage because that show is filmed in Toronto. I constantly see familiar landmarks and even my old neighborhood.

wow, that's weird.

edit: thanks for recommending this. it was more entertaining than i thought it would be. i looked it up after watching, and it looks like billy mitchell wound up taking back his title since the movie's debut.

while yeah, wiebe looks like a great guy and probably really cool to meet, i don't like how they made wiebe look cocky and unsportsmanlike. i dislike the whole sportsmanship vibe the movie was trying to theme. billy mitchell is a legend. i mean, the guy has proved himself as someone who has acquired amazing skill in many games. the fact that he can go back to a game and break his own record twenty-five years older definitely inspires me. and i believe he's just good enough to get away with his attitude. from my experience, vanity can be a seasoned player's strength, not vice. they made it seem like he was "afraid" of losing head to head against weibe during the funspot and guiness attempt scenes, but the truth is-- he's already the record holder. he doesn't need to look good in front of people. sure, it would of been the cool thing to do, but it's just not his personality, and i don't think they can hold that against him.
