Ever since i played NOAH in for about 80 games or so. I have been studying his tactics, and i have noticed him doing a ton of t-spin doubles and t-spins with plenty of z' and s'. So i have been experimenting and trying to figure out some ways. Andwhenever you have a:

xxxxx_xxx or space anywhere in between could place a z or s on either side to creare a t-spin.

For example:

-----------------x

----------------xx

----------------x

-------------- xxx_xxxxx

This technique creates a t-spin. There are a myriad of more more ways to use this technique for you advantage. I think this could be the extra thing that gives all those great players and edge.

Let me know what you guys think?

More generally, whenever you have the pattern 1101 in your field, you can use a Z to set up a T-spin:

                 Z
                ZZ
XX    XXXX => XXZ   XXXX
XXXX XXXXX    XXXX XXXXX

And with 1011, use an S:
                  S
                  SS
XX    XXXX => XX   SXXXX
XXX XXXXXX    XXX XXXXXX

Oh, and you can use the [code] tag to use a monospace font to make blocks line up properly on screen.

{I was going to put this in my blog, but here seems quite appropriate.}

I think that the main reason I have gone from a 7300 to a 7700 player is that I 'see' tspin doubles a lot more. Using s, z, j, l and o pieces to create them is easy once you get used to recognising the shapes on the playing field. Usually I notice the set up, quickly check for a t-piece in my next 4 tetriminos and then BAM! 4 garbage lines to my opponent.
