So why am I announcing it here?

Tetris for iPod (http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/games.html)

Someone with a 5G and money to burn let me know how it goes. I've got a 4G because I'm a FireWire purist.

I have to imagine it'd be pretty weird to play. Anyway. First step in a good direction. Now give me an iPod with Wi-Fi.

It's a shame I'm an anti-iPod fanboy...

i have a Ipod Shuffle and i don't like the implicit obligation of iTunes use for music transfert and i don't talk about problem recognition of USB mass storage... fortunately alleluia (http://agoraphobeus.free.fr/iShuffle/index.html)

and this kind of stuff is bugging me since i just clicked for seeing the game description :

http://www.the-shell.net/images/apple_page.jpg

and recently the obligation to install iTunes even if you just want quickTime.

I just bought it. I'll take some vids and upload them to youtube asap.

Ok, these controls are going to take some getting used to:

EDIT: My iPod died while getting used to the controls and preparing to take some vid. It charges pretty fast so I'll be back in business soon. I wish I could play while it was charging.

There are three modes: Marathon, 40 Lines, and Ultra (3 minutes for highest score). Records are kept. Ghost piece is optional. I'm not sure if using both hands is the best way to play, more testing is necessary.

EDIT2: Haha, camera battery died. I'll charge both for a few then try again. Playing while holding the camera is going to prove to be quite a task but I think I can do it well enough to show the game basics.

By the looks of it, you'll struggle to rotate and move laterally at the same time.

Sully

Yeah, it looks like it's either move then rotate or rotate then move.

Craptastic vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCJy3oBIi3w) on youtube.

While I like the idea of using a wheel for rotation, seems the lack of hold might keep one from taking it seriously as a modern Tetris game. That and the one-handed operation bit.

Have you gotten T-Spins to work?

Sully

Yep on the T-spins, both with and without line clears (although it showed "t-spin" and the "single" as seperate announcements when I cleared a t-spin single.

FULL MUSIC CONTROL IS AVAILABLE IN ALL PARTS OF THE GAME EXCEPT DURING PLAY.

Does this mean it turns off your music and puts on the Tetris theme song (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korobeiniki) when play begins, or does it mean that you can play your own music but you need to pause or end the game to change tracks?

I'm assuming it's like the games that come preinstalled and you have to set up the music the way you want it and it'll multi-task while you game.

It overrides your own music?

LAME.

It can be set to on, off or auto, where auto will play the iPod's music, but will play the game's music if nothing is playing.

But frankly, Korobeiniki is getting pretty tired however way you remix it...

Has anyone else gotten this? I may consider working at it if I had someone to compare scores with.

Needle got it. I don't think he takes it very seriously either, though.

If I could play it on my 4G I would. Otherwise, no, but it'll be a first purchase for me whenever I get a 5 or 6G. I think it'll be awhile before that happens.
