Is the forum's banner broken for anyone else? It's been broken for a while now for me both at work (IE) and at home (Opera). I was waiting for it to get fixed, but it's taking so long I'm wondering if it's just me somehow?

Yes I know. It looks worse in Google Chrome. I just figured I'd take down the phpbb3 banner, and that's what you get. If anyone wants to make a cool banner, I'm open to it.

I totally dug the evolution concept depicted with tetrominoes (logo on the wiki). Though I think we should change the order and the orientations of some and add a tetromino to complete it. From left to right, it should be O, T (SRS horizontal), Z (vertical), L (upside down vertical), and I (vertical).
There's a lot of symbolism and I think it depicts our community quite accurately.
1. Players congregate here to evolve and its a process that occurs gradually over time. From a simple O to a mighty I.
2. We're a community composed of many different types of people (players, theorists, etc.) and that is represented by the different tetrominoes. Our singularity as a community is denoted by the common color of black for every tetromino.
3. We strive for completeness and thoroughness as depicted by all the tetromino types excluding the mirrors (S and J). We are critical and not ignorant drones that just happen to love every Tetris implementation that comes along.
4. The simplicity and modesty of the design itself symbolizes the fact that we are approachable. We are not elitists (or we shouldn't be) and we welcome everyone who wants to join or has something to contribute.

That's fine, but the hard part is making a logo that goes well against that fading blue background.

Not too hard with a hackjob since the gradient is uniform horizontally. You can just make one with a white background first and see where it lies on the blue bar and then it's just a matter of copying and pasting under the tetromino layer. Perhaps an expert here has a better solution.

I'm not an expert, but a png with an alpha channel for transparency should do the trick.
Click the preview image to get the actual banner image.

Awesome one muf though you left out the T! http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_cry.gif
Anyhow, the banner as it's placed right now looks off as the gradient doesn't blend. It looks fine in muf's preview though.

I picked tetrominoes that somewhat resembled the monkey silhouettes behind them. I considered doing a T for the chimp, but it just didn't fit so I went with an O instead. I think this way the evolution metaphor is expressed the best.

I was thinking of the O as some form of amoeba with the T being a slug of sorts. http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif
Oh, and a suggestion. What do you think about emphasizing the t and the c in the logo more? It doesn't have to be fancy and even a color change, bold, or glow could perhaps work.

Because the gradient is generated by another image. You could replace styles/prosilver/theme/images/bg_header.gif (http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/styles/prosilver/theme/images/bg_header.gif) with a gradient that matches (probably easier than either fixing the gradient or making the image transparent), although I don't know how that would affect the rest of the site.

Great work muf !
very very nice logo!
on a side note, where's the page title? in the window header all it says is something like this:
"* Records - Mozilla Firefox"
where did the "Tetris Concept" bit go?

Because if I enable that, it'll put "Tetris Concept" on the right of the logo. So you'd have two logos.

Can't you move the forum title to the image's alt text by editing the template?

That's a clever idea. I'll look into it.
EDIT: okay, it didn't work like I thought it would, but the important thing is that I think it worked. =] Thanks tepples.

Could you do it like in xkcd's forum?
They have both a logo and text, which doesn't look bad at all.
