TGM machines near Okayama/Osaka

I'm currently in Niwase near Okayama and I'll be in Osaka for a few days next week. I was hoping to play some of the TGM games on the original hardware. Does anyone know of any in the area, or a list of cabinet locations I can look up?

Although Holic's site is fancy with the map of Japan and such, the lists can't be directly linked to due to use of Javascript. When you hover over the prefectures, the status bar will show something like "javascript: search(22)". Using that, Okayama is 33 (red box) and Osaka is two squares to the right of that, with 27 (orange box).


I've never been there, but it seems the arcade "Monte Carlo" in Umeda, Osaka (http://www.mapion.co.jp/c/f?grp=all&uc=1&scl=5000&el=135_252F30_252F15.450&pnf=1&size=500_252C500&nl=34_252F42_252F00.082) has a large installation of 2 Ti and 4 TAP cabinets, so you might get a chance to watch the local gods if you go there at the right time.

Trip Report:


I found the "Monte 50" (I think Monte Carlo was a different arcade?) pretty easily with the map - only 5 minutes walk from Umeda station. Best of all it was only 50 Yen per play on all machines, including the Ti cabinets.


I spent about 4-5 hours in there on Friday night, and all I can say is WOW. I like to think I entertained the natives for a while as a red-haired gaijin clumsily trying to clear Master mode and constantly getting "Regret"s (I need a lot more practice with an arcade stick - the first time I reached level 500 in Master mode it stopped and told me not to suck so much http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif), but the highlight was just watching the best players doing their thing.


The best of them went deep into Shirase mode repeatedly, including a few clears in well under 5 mins, and one time a bravo in the middle of the 1200-1300 section.

All in all, well worth the visit. If I get a chance to go back, I will try to take a digital video camera and put the official Arika videos to shame!

I'm quite curious about this also. Was he any good with one hand? Did he manually lock pieces? I bet I could pass 400 with a bit of practice. But I wouldn't be locking and even if I managed 500 I'd be far from 3:25.

But I wouldn't be locking and even if I managed 500 I'd be far from 3:25.Yes, he was manually locking pieces (using just his thumb around the stick) well past 300 and frequently in the 400-500 section. He was only barely too slow to get an M playing like this, but in many other runs I saw from that particular player, he reached 500 in under 3 minutes with little apparent effort.
