New XBLA game (http://www.xblarcade.com/taxonomy/term/212) coming. All we know is that it's called Tetris Splash.

Eh, what about Tetris Evolution? Hmm, I wonder what this version will bring to the table.

You mean like consistent performance even in PAL mode and compatibility with consoles sold in mainland Europe? "Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle" looks German.

I don't quite understand. Wasn't Evolution released in Europe?

Are 50 Hz players allowed to play against 60 Hz players? Or does it just skip one field out of every 6?

The 360 is a HD system.. HD is 60 fps in all regions.

It is also an SD system. Does SD on the PAL 360 require a 60 Hz TV?

No idea.. I don't have a 360 myself, but it would make sense I suppose. It's been done before.

Sorry tepples I'm not sure what it does. Personally I play on an HDTV set & I think I have it set to 60hz.

I've been paired up against people from all over the world in ranked games Eg, UK(which would make sense), Japan(Horrible lag), USA, South Africa., Italy

I know for a fact the game is not region locked so it might enforce visual settings when you run the game.

japan? didn't come out there.

I know, but the game is not region locked. My opponent spoke perfect English with an American accent. The lag was really bad so I checked the gamertag to add avoid this player. The location said Japan.

Maybe it was someone on a US army base

You do know that there are westerners living in japan, right? English teaching programs in Japan are not at all uncommon, but there are people living in japan for all imaginable reasons.. just as any other country really.

Of course I know that. I'm only stupid and ignorant on a Tuesdays and as you are aware it's Monday http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif I just through army base out as a possible explanation.

My Dad's friend actually lives over there working as a translator. In fact he brought me a Gameboy back with Tetris 17 years ago.

I was just pointing out that a number of country's with different TV systems play Tetris Evolution through Xbox Live, It was in response to tepples' previous question about different players using either 60hz or 50hz.

New info about Tetris Online? (http://www.gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=7982) I guess they may've changed the title?

Bump from the dead.

The acheivement list (http://www.daking240.com/?p=348) for Tetris Online was leaked somehow. It's got to be coming soon. Maybe today? I'll check when I get home.

hehe, splash.. leak.. I get it.

Seems "All-in-one" is the only hard to achieve achievement.. depending on what counts as a combo, does singles count?

Nice catch. And lol, Lee

Rainbow looks kinda hard as well, but it only needs to be done once...

Isn't it trivial to do rainbow with your very first line in 7-bag? Not a bad achievement really, if only to make people aware of the randomizer.

lee n

.. assuming it uses the bag.. but still, you can stack with overhangs to get the pieces you want for that achievement. Shouldn't be hard if that's your only intention for that session.

Combo
Clear one or more lines with successive pieces to increase your Combo count above eight.

That's the "Combo" achievement in the game so I'd assume it applies to "All-in-One" as well. The "All-in-One" achievement isn't too hard when you think about it. You have a whole game to do all that so it's really just an extension of the "Combo" achievement.

Ok, then I guess the 10 hours online is the "hardest" to pull off.. in the senste that it takes up most of your time. But racking up hours isn't that hard if the game is any good.

Here's a rainbow solution btw.. assuming the bag (but even without it it should be trivial):

Under one interpretation of the rainbow rule, there is a rainbow in row 2 of Playing forever (http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/../wiki/index.php?title=Playing_forever):

   T
ZTT  JJLL
ZZST  JOOL
ZZSSIIJOOL
ZZSSIILOOJ
->ZTSSIILOOJ<-
TTTSIILLJJ
Though the entire strategy doesn't work for 7+1, all you need are a 7 bag (hold the +1) and an extra I.

Compared to the amount of time some people spend playing Animal Crossing?

Nice.

I think this kidna proves that games shoiuld not reward "trivially easy" things like that.

Well.. some achievements are supposed to be easy. You should be able to get gamerscore even if you're not that good at the game.

They should try to have some harder tasks in there to challenge the better players though.

Speaking of acheivements, what was the hardest acheivement in Tetris Evolution? And by that, I don't mean where luck (or lack thereof) is a factor in its difficulty...

I'm taking a guess that it might be this if you don't follow a specific setup.

Big Ol Cascade (50 points)
Trigger 8 or more Cascade Line Clears with a single drop.

Is that an 8-step cascade (http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/../wiki/index.php?title=S_and_Z_cascade), or just a cascade with 8 line clears (http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/../wiki/index.php?title=Clearing_over_four_lines)?
