Hey, i'm a complete noob to the whole tetris scene and i've no idea what is what around here so i just have a few questions to ask and if anyone can help me i would appreciate it.

1) I know of one person who has achieved a max score in the original gameboy Tetris and that is Spectre, i've seen his youtube video. I'm curious as to whether there are other people who have achieved this feat ?

2) Is there any site with some sort of ranking system for gameboy Tetris aside from the shitstorm that is twingalaxies ?

3) Is there any website or centre that is focused mainly on classic gameboy tetris, and are there many players that compete in this game ? (I would hazard a guess that there are very few)

4) And more specifically is there any real sort of Tetris community in the UK not regarding to any specific tetris game ?

5) Aside from Spectre's video of his max score are there any gameboy Tetris videos of scores over 500'000 ? Im curious of this because at the moment my high score is 455'529.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I can answer #4, which is to say that there's quite a few UK players. About 5 or 6 on here, of which one is myself.

As far as I know there's no specific community for Tetris which is based in the UK though.

Rosti, what version of Tetris do those players play ?

Mostly games in the Tetris The Grand Master series and their derivatives (Heboris, TexMaster, etc.), I think. Probably some Tetris DS and such as well.

Hi there!

UK player here too, Portsmouth to be precise.

To be honest I haven't played original Gameboy Tetris for years and don't remember my scores but once you get locked into the speed at lv20 it's pretty easy to take it on for a while form there from what I remember.

I tend to stick to the official Tetris games at the moment, Tetris Splash for its online 6 player battles, Tetris Zone for its formidable players on its leaderboards, Tetris DS for its utter layxness and a very small amount of Tetris Friends. I also play around with Lockjaw and TGM emulated and whilst I've used the stuff I've picked up from that I'm yet to get to grips with them totally.

I do have an empty Jamma cabinet though just waiting for the day I fall over a board in the street http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

Rosti - North (Liverpool), Mostly TGM games, also Tetris DS. Dabbled in Quadra and TNET.

Edo - South, TGM series

Lardarse - South (Bristol), doesn't actually play all that much (except worlds?)

Ex_Mosquito - Wales, TGM games

Udy - see above

And yourself, and as far as I know that's it for people that post here.

Main reason you don't see much serious competition on Gameboy Tetris anymore is because once you've played tetris with a non memoryless randomizer it's hard to go back (chuckle). And soem of the memoryless games seem to have randomizers that are created by satan himself (chuckle).

lv 200 GB = lv 200 TGM, but with ARE = lock delay = 0 http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif

More like level 250 TGM, seeing as level 200 is almost 0G again http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

in gameboy tetris, sideways motion slows down the rate of falling, even at high levels. that's what keeps it playable.

which might explain why so many people think this is level 9 height 5:

when it's really level 9 heart height 5.

actually no they're probably not paying attention.

Damnit Chris, do you think you could show some accuracy? http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

Lardarse - South (Bristol)

I play occasionally, but the amount that I play varies on many factors, including amount of sleep that I've had. Among the games that I play are Game Boy Tetris and Tetris 2 (which is a mashup of Tetris and Dr. Mario) on an original GBA (not the clamshell version, so I tend to have to play with a torch being held by my neck pointing at the screen), LJ, Hebo netplay, BlockTrix, and some TDS as well. Haven't reinstalled Tetris Worlds since I reinstalled Windows last year, but I did play it for a bit before then. Recently, though, I haven't been playing much. I also tend to pay attention to the theorectical side of the game, which is kinda beyond the scope of this thread... http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif
